Chronology
Justin began performing as a professional soloist in late 2013 and soon after, turned his hand to songwriting. His original songs are life inspired and relatable on a personal level. Prior to this, Justin has 20 years’ experience as a performer & musician with the majority of this time spent in the popular Orange based duos ‘Warp II’ & ‘Guess What’.
December 2017 marked the release of his self-recorded and self-produced debut album titled ‘None But Ned’, named after his nickname “Ned”, affectionately given by his former fridge factory workmates. The album, containing ten tracks with four of his originals, received substantial radio airplay on the Community Radio Network Australia Wide, on on-line digital stations around the globe, and was also featured as "Album of the Week" on the very popular nationally broadcast breakfast show, ‘Good Morning Country’ with Kevin (Walshie) Walsh.
Justin later released his song written especially for his father’s 70th birthday, ‘My Old Man’ as a standalone single in November 2018. This track peaked at a respectable #18 on the Tasmanian Country Chart, where it remained on the chart for 8 weeks.
In July 2019, Justin engaged the much sort after Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut Records to produce and record his album, Free Time And Money, resulting in the early release of his first single from the album, ‘A Campfire Waltz’. This single saw Justin take his songwriting credibility to a whole new level with the song offering up a beautiful example of real country storytelling on a silver platter, leaving the listener floating in wonderful images of a campfire romance. Debuting at #30, his single very quickly rocketed to a top ten position peaking at #8 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart. Justin was also credited as a finalist in the Tamworth Songwriters Association (TSA) Songwriters Salute Awards 2020 for A Campfire Waltz.
January 2020 summoned Justin to offer up yet another fine example of his storytelling and songwriting skills to the world with his second early release single, ‘How ‘Bout This Weather’. The song tells of an accidental meeting in the street after a relationship breakup. This rather catchy, unique and somewhat novel tune also peaked in a top ten position at #8 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart and remained in the chart for an impressive 12 weeks and is still receiving substantial radio airplay to date. How ‘Bout This Weather was also a finalist in the Country Rock section for TSA Songwriters Salute Awards for 2021.
September 2020 saw Justin release his third and final “early” release, ‘Be A Little Kinder’ from his the Free Time And Money album. Written during the height of the first Australian COVID lockdown, this wholehearted traditional country song asks listeners to question their own mortality and actions on various issues affecting the world at that time and to consider being a little kinder. This song peaked at #6 and #2 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart and the Tasmanian & OzCMR Country Chart respectively. Be A Little Kinder reached #2 in the top ten most requested songs on Today’s Country 94 One (Nov 2020) and was also a finalist in Traditional Country Song section of the TSA Songwriters Salute Awards for 2021.
